Linking up again with Lisa Leonard for another week of her Hello Monday series.
Hello to getting real sleep last night. Hello to really trying to put Emmy in her crib tonight. For real this time. I mean, what little girl wouldn't want to sleep in this happy nursery?
She has been in her crib and has been mesmerized by this owl mobile but as for sleeping in the crib, not so much.
Hello to our new growth chart wall in our kitchen. Love it.
Growth chart decal is from here.
Name and age decals are from here.
I love that I didn't have to paint anything and the decals are 100% removable, thank goodness because I messed up putting the ruler on the wall and had to start over. I love the names so much, Chase's name is in the navy blue ( looks black in the picture) Avenger font and little Emmy's is in the pink Minnie font. Love.
Hello to a better week than last week with Chase. We had lots of melt downs, which I know are normal, so say hello to reading my first "parenting" book and actually implementing some of the strategies I have learned.
So far I have learned that Chase has too many toys (balls, cars and trucks) and not enough of the thinker toys that can be turned into imaginative play ( blocks, figurines, paints etc.) Too many toys causes over stimulation which ultimately leads to boredom because a truck is just a truck. But blocks can be a castle or a car or as Chase likes to say, a giant that says "Fee-Fi-Fum". At least I can safely say the blame of the too many toys is all the grandparent's fault.
I have also learned that he doesn't care what my reasoning is. So, no more of this:
"Please don't jump on the couch because you could hurt yourself
or land on your sister or spill Mommy's ice water for the third time today."
More of this:
(I also learned that toddlers only really hear/comprehend the last two or three words of your sentences. So, the shorter the better.
More on this later this week.
Hello to Mother's Day this coming weekend. Last year I got my rings cleaned and a surprise ring with Chase's sapphire birthstone. Too bad I don't love the January birthstone of Emmy's. But we can pretend that since she was conceived in April or so, that I should get diamonds instead. I guess since I am taking extended maternity leave with no pay (minus the $12.97 check I got last week, really?!!?) jewels can wait. This year I am just happy the rings fit on my fingers.
No big mother's day plans here. I just want someone to deep clean my house, straighten my hair, give me a tan and pour me some wine while sitting outside enjoying the peace and quiet. Not too much to ask right?
What are you saying "hello" to this week?
